ELIANE AMHERD at BAR NEXT DOOR, NYC With Bill Ware on Vibes, Gustavo Amarante on bass & special guest Hiro Keitora on guitar.

I feel so sorry for those 7 billion people who don’t know what they have missed. My heart goes out to them because the crowd last night was positively euphoric! Even the waiter looked it me and yelled, “Yes! I love her! She is so perfect!”

Eliane Amherd was stuck in the dark under a 25 watt bulb so you couldn’t see her goddess-like beauty, but you could hear her enchanting voice! Nearly everyone from the first set stayed for another set including my group of friends.

The vibe man, Bill Ware who was also on her CD, improvised indescribably beautiful chords that kept every one tapping their fingers and feet. The cute Brazilian bass guitarist Gustavo Amarante who is also on her CD, played tastefully with fine musicianship and restraint so you could hear every word.

Eliane sang in English, Italian, Portuguese, and German but language is no barrier for a sophisticated and adoring audience who consistently applauded with unbridled joy. Every one at my table drank only tea; yet we were totally besotted with happiness and awe experiencing Eliane’s consummate professionalism.

The intimate environment brought out all of her naturalness, warmth and sweetness. A regiment of “Monday Blues” bachelors walking down the block, heard Eliane, stopped dead in their tracks, and came inside! That’s magnetism!

The place was suddenly SRO. Guest guitarist Hiro Keitora then sat in, amused everybody with his patter, and then amazed everyone with his talent.

As if this wasn’t enough already, the food was to die for! I’ve tried thousands of slices of pizza and would trade every slice from my past for the pizza I had last night! The duck breast with the arugula salad and three different types of bruchetta [paté, tomato, and salmon] was nothing to sniff at either! Mama Mia what a meal!

Afterwards, Eliane posed for pictures and thanked everybody, and got a lot of enthusiastic hugs and praise..

So now you know why I feel sorry for every one who wasn’t there!
